Carlisle Flight Training are a friendly, professional, family-run flight school and aero club with a unique atmosphere. They are dedicated to keeping flying safe, fun and as easy on the wallet as we possibly can.
Alan Rayson, CFI (Chief Flying Instructor) and owner has been teaching people to fly for over 20 years since instructing with another local flying school, Cumbria Aero Club, which has now sadly closed. When the opportunity arose for Alan and his wife Helen to start their own school, they leapt at the chance.
Whether you’re looking for a one-off experience, a new challenge, the start of a new career or maybe you already have a PPL and just want to hire an aircraft, they can help you!

A unique opportunity for guests to take flights from Carlisle Airport their own private Gyroplane. The flights will take you on a wonderful journey around the lakes and you will be able to see the breathtaking views and scenery the Lake District has to offer.

Kielder Water & Forest Park brings you nature on a grander scale.
The views are bigger, the night sky brighter, the sports wilder and the smiles wider. We’re home to the biggest man-made lake in Northern Europe and, at over 250 square miles, the largest working forest in England.
The best way to explore Kielder is to start at one of their three visitor centres, Tower Knowe, Kielder Waterside or Kielder Castle.
A combination of Solar power and our fantastic wood burners provide heat for the cabin. The wood burners only use logs sourced as a bi-product of the ongoing management of the surrounding woodland. Therefore, not only can you enjoy carbon footprint free hot water and heating but also you can enjoy the atmosphere and warmth that only a real fire can create.
With a glass of fizz in hand you can relax and unwind as you watch the Kingfishers and Otters go by as well as the large birds that are resident to the area – like the buzzard.
Why not even escape the catering chores and head to our onsite restaurant for dinner. Enjoy fine dining in tranquil surroundings.
